BOOK CLUB

Welcome newbies!

We've had several new members join our Chi Omega Book Club when they renewed their alumnae membership or joined for the first time. Welcome! We enjoy gathering over a glass of wine and a good book (yes, we do actually read it, haha), and we work hard to vary our selections between historical fiction, thriller/mystery, biography/memoir, chick lit and other types of literature. We especially enjoy stories with strong female lead characters, and we REALLY love Chi O authors. We meet about every 4-6 weeks for happy hour in the home of a member, and we each bring a bottle of wine or appetizer to share.

HOW do we select what to read next?

We solicit suggestions from members, we create an online poll from those suggestions, and we vote as a group to select our next 3 books. We're looking for, not just a "good book," but a beautiful story with strong writing and (this is most important) something to discuss. Our LAST book fit the bill well: Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall.

NEXT, we will read Sensible Shoes by local CHI O AUTHOR Cindy Causey, who will join us for the discussion. We will meet at Ready Bateman's home, 6701 Golf, for happy hour Thursday July 10 at 5:30pm (thank you, Ready!).

Please join us even if you haven't read or finished the book so that we can have a good turnout for the author. The book is available on Amazon, but not Audible.

After that, we will read:

2) Be Ready When the Luck Happens, by Ina Garten, and

3) Becoming Madam Secretary by Stephanie Dray.

I will provide questions for our discussion.
